Cathode Protection for Off-Shore Platforms – Gas Pipelines

Another sector where photovoltaic systems have shown excellent results because of their:
- Versatility
- Simple installation
- Reliability
is the cathode protection.

Indeed thanks to special equipment supplied by photovoltaic systems it is possible to make circulate some injected currents between an anode and the metallic surface (gas and oil pipelines, aqueducts ext.) to be protected. This current decreases the electric potential of the metallic surface till it cancels the phenomenon of corrosion.
Besides granting the cathode protection, photovoltaic and hybrid systems themselves can grant the daily electrical needs of installations such as off-shore platforms or gas and oil pumping stations, for the following uses:

- Primary uses of the personnel (lighting, refrigerator, freezer, TV, ext.)
- Light signalling for heliport runways
- Navigation AIDS
- Data collection and telemetry
- Telecommunications.

The programme of ENERECO srl
The technical department of ENERECO srl has developed a series of systems and applications related to the field of cathode protection for gas and oil pipelines, aqueducts and off-shore platforms, according to the customer’s needs.
Moreover, thanks to the continue cooperation with the main manufacturers of equipment for the cathode protection, ENERECO srl is able to satisfy any requirement concerning systems supplied by photovoltaic or hybrid systems.

“HPV-CAT” SYSTEMS
HPV-CAT systems developed by ENERECO srl are dimensioned from time to time according to the customer’s demands and to the installation site.
They can be photovoltaic, wind or hybrid. In the “turn-key” installations, all the necessary devices can be also supplied: feeders for cathode protection, anodes, ground plates of any type, electrodes, ext..
